Robins boss Lee Johnson confirmed on Monday night the 18-year-old would be returning to the Hawthorns, following his team’s 5-0 defeat at Villa.

Leko was an unused substitute at Villa Park and leaves Ashton Gate having made just 12 appearances for the Championship club, including only five starts.

Baggies boss Alan Pardew has taken the decision to exercise the recall clause in the academy product’s season-long loan as he aims to boost his attacking options.

Johnson said: “Jonathan Leko has been recalled by West Brom.

“He hasn’t had as much game time as he’d hope and the manager (Alan Pardew) wants to have a look at him. We thank him for his application with us.”

Leko made one appearance in the Carabao Cup for Albion this season before joining Bristol City in late August.

He has made 14 total Premier League appearances for the club, including three starts.
