Jed Ward

Produced a couple of saves to earn his clean sheets and registered an assist with an exceptional ball in behind for Tai Sodje to score.

Assist: 7

Elicha Ahui

Made an important interception to stop Favour Fawumni seizing on a rebound in front of goal, but was sent off for a cynical pull-back.

Red card: 6

Declan Skura

Reverted to centre-back and set-up the second goal with an excellent pass down the inside-right channel for Pressley to latch on to.

Solid: 7

James Connolly

Made a big block to thwart Tom Pett’s low drive in the first half and defended the penalty area with great authority.

Commanding: 7

James Furlong

Made his first league start and tirelessly ran the line. Defended diligently and offered a positive attacking outlet.

Balanced: 7

Charlie Crew

Elegant at times with his distribution, but was perhaps fortunate not to receive a second booking, even if his first was soft.

Tightrope: 7

Isaac Moore

Formed a solid partnership with Crew at the base of midfield and ran himself into the ground with an indefatigable display.

Tireless: 7

Courtney Clarke

A true entertainer. Proved a menace from the left and got supporters off their seats with a number of electrifying runs.

Menace: 7

Tai Sodje

Continued his hot streak in front of goal with his fourth goal in three games, and also headed another chance inches wide.

Superb: 8

Lewis Simper

His best performance for Walsall yet. Alternated between the right wing and the No 10, and constantly troubled with his delivery.

Impressive: 7

Aaron Pressley

Played well with his back to goal and extended his season tally to eight with his second brace of the season.

Brace: 9

Battled well physically in midfield and avoided a booking, with the Austrian just one away from a suspension.

Battled: 7

Reece Smith (for Pressley, 68)

Showed good energy and had an effort from an angle cleared off the line.

Energetic: 7
