Walsall new boy Charlie Lakin sets out season goal

Walsall missed out on the play-offs place by five points last term.

Meanwhile, Lakin, who joined Walsall this summer, hit eight goals on loan at relegated Sutton United during the second half of the previous season.

The midfielder is looking to replicate those figures at Bescot and is aiming to propel Walsall to promotion in the process.

“I want to get into double figures for goals and assists and help the team as much as I can” said Lakin.

“I think my main ambition is to get this club promoted and I think that’s every person’s ambition in the changing room.

“I feel like we’re more than good enough to do that with the team that we’ve got, the staff that we’ve got. We’ve just got to keep believing it and go and do it.

“We can’t wait to get the season started and to get the ball rolling.

“Everyone is at that point where they want the season to start.”
