Walsall FC boss Dean Smith praised by Coventry's Steven Pressley

Coventry City boss Steven Pressley today hailed Dean Smith for the "wonderful" job he has done at Walsall.

Since taking over in January 2011, Smith has transformed the Saddlers from relegation candidates into one of the most exciting sides in League One – as evidenced by Tuesday's 3-1 win at Swindon Town.

And that is despite losing the likes of Jamie Paterson and 20-goal striker Will Grigg over the summer and operating with one of the division's smallest playing budgets.

Pressley takes his Sky Blues side to the Banks's tomorrow and believes Smith deserves huge credit.

"Swindon are one of the teams who have hugely impressed me this season," he said.

"I think they are one of the best sides in the division so for Walsall to go there and win is a phenomenal result.

"And I think their manager deserves great credit.

"They are a club that haven't got a massive budget and are a club that lost two of their most potent attackers last year, but Dean has found solutions to the problems so I think he's done a wonderful job there, I really do.

"And then watching the way they play, a very expansive style and possession-based game, he deserves great credit."

Pressley has received plenty of plaudits himself for Coventry's own form despite the off-pitch turmoil which has forced them to play home games in Northampton.

Only League One leaders Leyton Orient have scored more goals than the Sky Blues and Pressley is expecting another entertaining game with the Saddlers.

He said: "I expect a good game and I am looking forward to it very much. It should be a good crowd and we'll have another good travelling support who are very much behind the team just now, so we're really excited about it.

"And when you are winning games and on a good run you are desperate for the next game to come along."
