"That's why we signed him" - Walsall loanee earns high praise from Lee Grant

Moore epitomised a battling performance from Walsall on the weekend.

Lee Grant says loan midfielder Isaac Moore’s physical capabilities was a key reason behind bringing him to the club and praised his Walsall team for the way they battled in their 3-2 win over Accrington Stanley at Bescot.

Moore sported a head bandage for the majority of the contest after suffering a nasty clash of heads in the opening exchanges.

The 20-year-old spent the remainder of the battle in the wars, along with his teammates, as Walsall registered their first home win under Grant.

“We signed him because of that [his ability to battle physically] - so it’s not a surprise.

“Isaac himself holds that as his sort of minimum requirement. If he’s not playing well some other aspects then he will always give you that.

“So yes, it’s not a surprise to me, but I was pleased with Isaac and everybody else on that front.

“There were so many good moments with that. Sven [Sprangler] blocks at the end, Lewis Simper, Aaron Pressley clearing things, Harrison Burke with his body on the line.

“Goalkeeper making saves, Albert Adomah running back and playing left wing-back if we needed him to, Elicha [Ahui] winning those headers.

“I could go on but it was everybody on that front.”

Reece Smith, Harrison Burke and Aaron Pressley scored the Saddlers’ goals and Grant was pleased by the aggression his team showed to win the game.

“Everyone together. We do everything together and that’s really important that the group have understood that mantra and really taken it on board.

“That’s what pleases me the most. More so than the aggression when people are pulling shirts or pushing. The aggression that we showed to win the game.”
