Mat Sadler tips Harrison Burke to return to Walsall training this week

Mat Sadler is hopeful that Walsall defender Harrison Burke will return to training on either "Tuesday or Thursday" this week.

Burke has not featured since suffering a knee injury during the Saddlers' 2-1 home victory against Bristol Rovers on October 4.

The issue was not initially expected to be serious, but Burke was handed a setback after making his comeback in training earlier this month.

He did not train leading up to the 2-0 defeat against Colchester United at Bescot on Saturday, but Sadler is optimistic that he will be able to reintroduce him to the first team fold this week.

"No [Harrison and Jamie didn't train last week]," boss Sadler confirmed.

"Harrison was out there [on the training pitch] a couple of weeks ago and he was still feeling it.

"We came back off it and he went to see a specialist again. Everything is fine and we'll be ramping it up again next week now.

"That's with the hope that he'll either train with me on Tuesday or Thursday."

Brandon Comley was absent again because of illness - Sadler confirmed.

Jamie Jellis also missed his second game in succession, as he continues to nurse a groin/stomach issue.

It has been a problem that Jellis has been nursing for quite some time and Sadler wants to give him the time to make a full recovery.

"Jamie has had this stomach, or muscular thing going on. I can't remember the name of it, but a real inflammation in that area," he added.

"Just from probably working so hard to make sure he was ready in pre-season.

"Because pre-season was really up and down in terms of things that were going on away from here and that was a challenge.

"Then we tried to get him and then he's come out. We've backed off him a little bit and we just want to get him back now.

"We want to bring him back when he's fully fit to go rather than maybe half Jamie, which has maybe been the case so far."
