Lee Grant makes 'best performance' claim after Walsall's draw at Swindon
Walsall registered their seventh draw of the season at Swindon.
Lee Grant has claimed that Walsall’s performance in their 1-1 draw against Swindon Town at the County Ground could be their “best of the season”.
Walsall fell behind early on when Aaron Drinan tapped home in the fifth-minute, before Tai Sodje rescued a point with his third goal in two games.
Aaron Pressley had a goal wrongfully disallowed after his effort clearly crossed the line, while Sodje was denied a penalty after Swindon goalkeeper Connor Ripley caught him with a high challenge.
“It might be our best performance of the season. We were outstanding minute one to minute 94,” head coach Lee Grant revealed.
“We were fantastic, really good. Dominated the game, created so many opportunities and the boys did exactly what I asked them do in terms of mentality, tempo and chance creation.

“It’s hard for me to stand here and be critical of anything we did today. They scored a goal that came from nowhere.
“I can obviously be critical of that and we can pick the bones out of that of course. It didn’t come from any momentum or good play, it comes from probably a better clearance and we’re not even talking about this as a close encounter.
“We were really good, so there was lots to like.”
Walsall have registered seven draws in their opening 10 games - including three on the bounce - but Grant is pleased with the fact that they have come from behind in each of those three games.
“We’re really fit. I’m enjoying that about us and I think they know it as well,” he added.
“So they’re leaning into that in terms of their physicality in games. We finishing games well.
“We finished the game well at Tranmere, we finished the game well here and at Fleetwood.
“Then we did it at Gillingham and against Port Vale as well.”
