Isaac Moore hails 'outstanding' difference for Walsall this season

The young midfielder has impressed since joining on loan from Coventry City.

Isaac Moore has hailed the attitude of the substitutes as “outstanding” and believes they’ve been a major “difference” for Walsall so far this season.

Walsall have preserved their unbeaten start in League Two with a pair of late draws against Fleetwood Town and Tranmere Rovers respectively in recent weeks.

Although Walsall have gone unbeaten across their first nine league games for the first time in 47 years, that record is beginning to be undermined by the sheer amount of draws (six).

While Moore has highlighted the “confidence” and “resilience” of the group, he does admit that they need to be showcasing those performance levels more from the start of games.

“That’s something that we can pride ourselves on. If we run around for 60 to 70 minutes before we get fatigued, we know there’s going to be someone as good, if not better, to come on and have an impact,” Moore explained.

“The training levels are high. For example, when you don’t play on a Saturday, the tempo is so high in the Monday session because boys are itching to play.

“There’s nobody sulking because this group is so good and that’s why there’s so much quality coming off the bench.

“Everyone has a right to be starting and I think the subs have been outstanding.

“I think that’s going to be a big difference for us this season when we get to the latter stages in games, but we need to start doing that from minute one.”

Nonetheless, Walsall have become a much tougher nut to crack under Grant, and have adapted supremely well considering the magnitude of the summer rebuild.

‘We’ve got so much desire, character and resilience’

Moore has been instrumental to the Saddlers’ positive start, featuring in each of their opening nine games in League Two.

The Coventry City loanee got off the mark from the bench on his league debut in a 3-0 win at Gillingham in August and has made eight starts across all competitions.

“That’s got be a minimum requirement. We’re coming to away games, we’re a very good side and I think we should be winning most of our games,” he continued.

“We’ve got so much desire, character and resilience. As soon as Fleetwood scored their goal, all of the experienced boys are getting the team together.

“We have so much confidence in everything. The game plan, the quality of the group, we know that we’re never beaten and I think we’ve shown that throughout the season.”
