'Couldn't lace his boots' - Walsall refuse to underestimate Swindon challenge

Swindon are winless in seven games in all competitions ahead of the visit of Walsall.

Walsall head coach Lee Grant says he does not subscribe to the “down in the dumps” narrative surrounding Swindon Town ahead of their trip to the County Ground on Saturday.

Ian Holloway has come under pressure following a seven-match winless run across all competitions, which includes six defeats.

Swindon have had a number of injury issues to contend with and head into the upcoming match day languishing 17th in League Two.

But Grant has refused to underestimate any team managed by Holloway, as he anticipates another tough test.

‘That’s the Swindon I’m expecting this weekend’

“I can't lace his boots when it comes to management. He's light years ahead of where I am,” head coach Grant said.

“I'll be proud to be able to share a five or 10 minute chat with him after the game hopefully and pick his brain on one or two things.

“I came across him before the season kicked off at the managers' meeting down in London. I got an opportunity to be in his presence a little bit and you can see he has such a big personality.

“His teams play with that. All of his teams in years gone by have played with that personality, energy and spirit. We've watched this Swindon team and they're doing that as well.

He continued: “I don't subscribe to this down in the dumps mentality of injured players, things aren't going our way and we haven't won a game recently.

“His team are running really hard, they were playing quick, fast, aggressive and creating chances. That's the Swindon I'm expecting this weekend.”
