According to journalist Pete O'Rourke, Sadler has departed the club after suffering three successive defeats under his watch for the first time following a 1-0 defeat at Salford City on Tuesday.

Sadler had propelled Walsall to the League Two summit by Boxing Day, but a dismal run of just two wins in 14 games has seen them plummet to 11th.

Walsall have failed to win any of their last seven home games and remain the only team without a home win in the division in 2026.

Their latest setback at Salford saw them fall eight points adrift of their six-placed hosts, although just three points separate them from Grimsby Town in seventh.
