Aaron Pressley hopes Walsall equaliser can kickstart his season after "frustrating" spell

Pressley has been plagued by injury of late, after missing four weeks with a hamstring issue in November and December, before suffering a broken hand in the New Year. 

However, the 24-year-old impressed as the sole striker at Grimsby (in the absence of top scorer Daniel Kanu), and hopes he can use that performance as a platform to rediscover his consistency.

'I've been frustrated in the past couple of months'

"When I came in, I performed reasonably well in the first 10 or 15 games," Pressley said.

"I showed people what I could do and how I could help the team. Hopefully I can get back to that now. 

"That comes from hard work and always being that target man. I need to rediscover what I know I can do myself. 

"I've been frustrated the past couple of months because I've not been able to show my true self. 

"That has been my frustration but I thought tonight I was much better and back to being the player that I think I can be."

Priestley Farquharson opened the scoring, before a second half double from former Saddlers striker Andy Cook turned the game on its head in the wake of Myles Roberts' red card. 

'It's a big goal for the team'

But Pressley salvaged a point in what was a much-improved performance - despite extending their winless run to six games.

"It's not just a big goal for me, it's a big goal for the team," he added. 

"In terms of coming away from here with a point, in these conditions, down to 10-men. 

"It's a big point, and as you said, it's nice for me to score the goal, but the team and the hard work tonight was the main thing."
