Walsall currently have nine players out of contract at the end of the season: Aden Flint, Priestley Farquharson, Rico Browne, Evan Weir, Brandon Comley, Jamie Jellis, Charlie Lakin, Jamille Matt and Albert Adomah.

Conversations have been taking place in the background to get deals done early, although Sadler has confirmed that no agreements have been struck just yet.

"Nothing yet, or nothing to write about at the moment," boss Sadler said.

"It is in our minds to start heading towards that way.

"We have had internal conversations anyway about the guys that we want to speak about sooner rather than later.

"But as it stands at the moment, nothing has really moved on from that."

Harry Williams became the latest Walsall player to put pen to paper when he agreed a new two-year deal with an option year in September.

The defender has not featured since rupturing his Achilles in the Saddlers' 1-0 defeat against AFC Wimbledon in the League Two play-off final in May and is fighting to return before the end of the season.

Aaron Pressley celebrates
Walsall have at least 11 players under contract beyond next summer, with Levi Amantchi's deal including an option year.

Sam Hornby, Connor Barrett, Lewis Warrington and Jake Hollman have 20 months left on their current deals, while Vincent Harper, Courtney Clarke and Mason Hancock penned two-year contracts with an option year back in the summer.

Aaron Pressley joined on a three-year deal from Stevenage in June and Harrison Burke's option year would take his stay at Bescot up until 2029.

Elsewhere, Ronan Maher signed a new two-year contract at the end of last season, but is currently on loan at Tamworth in the National League.

Levi Amantchi, who is on loan at Rochdale, has an option year on his current deal, which is due to expire at the end of the season.
