'No hesitation' - Mat Sadler makes Daniel Kanu admission amid his goal-laden form for Walsall

Kanu's season-long loan switch from Charlton Athletic was confirmed just an hour after Stuttle was recalled by AFC Bournemouth following his ACL injury. 

The 20-year-old has made a blistering start to life at Bescot - scoring three goals in as many games, including Walsall's third in their 4-2 win over Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.

Walsall wanted to sign Kanu 'regardless of Stuttle's recall'

"We were trying to do that [sign Kanu] regardless [of Jonny Stuttle's recall]," Sadler confirmed.

"That was what we were trying to do anyway. As I've said a few times, the Jonny one definitely upset the apple cart because we were desperately trying to secure Daniel Kanu. 

"Which is what put us on the backfoot because then we're trying to recoup a Jonny Stuttle and there aren't many of those out there. 

"And we had to work hard on all of them. With Daniel, I've known him for a long time, so when it was time to push the button and go, there was no hesitation there whatsoever." 

Kanu and Pressley will go 'from the strength to strength' - Sadler

Kanu was one of the standout performers along with Evan Weir on the weekend, and Sadler feels the paradoxical styles between Kanu and Aaron Pressley has the makings of a good attacking partnership.

"His pace is scary, especially down the sides of those defenders. It's an uncomfortable place to be as a defender," he added.

"He is a threat and a menace. Aaron takes a lot of hits for him as well and hopefully the makings of a good partnership. 

"That's what I've wanted to bring. That pair is going to go from strength to strength. 

"I can feel that with them because they enjoy playing with together and they're starting to really read off each other which takes time. 

"Two good young players that are leading the line at the moment."
