The former Crystal Palace boss has been installed as the 1/2 favourite to take over at the Banks's Stadium following the departure of Brian Dutton.

If appointed, the 65-year-old will bring over 35 years of managerial experience to the table with chairman Leigh Pomlett and technical director Jamie Fullarton looking for a swift announcement.

The strong Palace ties between could be key to securing a potential deal with Fullarton playing under Coppell at Selhurst Park.

John McGreal, the former Colchester United manager, and Dave Reddington, the current Crystal Palace first team coach, are both priced at 8/1.

Richie Wellens and Paul Hall are both possible contenders, priced at 12/1. Former Forest Green Rovers boss Mark Cooper is amongst a host of outsiders at 16/1.

Coppell started his managerial career at Palace in 1984 with his last job coming in 2019 with Indian Super League side ATK.

As a player, he made 322 appearances for Manchester United and was capped 42 times by England.
