The 33-year-old's deal with the National League side was due to end this week after a one-month loan.

The Express & Star reported last week that Liddle was set to extend his loan at the north east club and the Saddlers have now announced he will stay with Dave Challinor's side until the end of the current campaign.

Walsall manager Darrell Clarke also confirmed the move last week as the 'wished him well' on the move.

Liddle, who played right-back, centre-back and centre-midfield in the first half of the season, featured 16 times in all competitions.

His last appearance for Walsall came in the 1-0 FA Cup replay win over Darlington on November 20 – he has since gone on to be a regular starter for Hartlepool.
