Walsall skipper George Dobson ‘must bide time’

Walsall chief Dean Keates insists skipper George Dobson might have to bide his time to get back in the team once he returns to fitness.

All-action midfielder Dobson had been the heartbeat of the team but has missed the last three games with a minor knock.

Isaiah Osbourne and screamer-scorer Liam Kinsella then shone in the middle of the park in the FA Cup triumph at Sunderland on Tuesday night.

“With George, he’s our captain, but he’s not ready at the moment,” said Keates.

“When he is ready, if those lads keep performing the way they are, he’ll have a fight to get his place back in the team.”

And while Kinsella has rightly had a wealth of praise for his exceptional strike, Keates was keen to point out Osbourne’s work. “Ozzy has got a wealth of experience. He’s still only 31 himself,” he said.

“He keeps it simple. He’s probably someone the fans don’t always see or fully appreciate, but as a team-mate of his, you’re grateful he’s in your team.”
