Walsall waiting on clearance for Connor Ronan and Connor Johnson deals

Walsall have bolstered their ranks by signing Wolves youngsters Connor Ronan and Connor Johnson on loan, subject to EFL and FA clearance.

In what turned out to be a frantic deadline day at the Banks's Stadium, Ronan on a temporary basis until January, while Johnson has agreed a season long switch.

A creative midfielder, Ronan has joined Walsall after a hugely impressive loan spell in League One with Portsmouth last season.

The Irishman impressed in 17 outings for Pompey and had been expected to re-join Kenny Jackett's side this year.

Johnson, a former Wolves under-23s captain, enjoyed a loan spell in National League North with AFC Telford in the 2017/18 campaign.

He will gives the Saddlers valuable competition at centre-back with Jon Guthrie and Jack Fitzwater the only other senior central defenders currently available to manager Dean Keates.
