'We are buzzing for it' - Gornal Athletic look to keep Wembley dream alive

Gornal Athletic are "buzzing" to keep their Wembley dream alive, as boss Stuart How says the FA Vase needs no extra motivation.

Gornal host Grantham Town in the third round tomorrow, already knowing that victory would set up a clash with Heather St John's in the next stage.

How’s side are in imperious form, having won nine consecutive Midland One matches to sit top of the standings, and they are hoping to carry that momentum into the cup.

“We are buzzing for it, so far our record against step five sides this season has been exceptional with three out of four victories,” said boss How.

“The FA Vase is very easy to get your players motivated for, especially in front of a big home crowd that we are hoping for at the weekend.

“I always think it is difficult when the draw has been made for the round after, you can look too far in front sometimes.

“But, we know it will be a tough ask again, but we will give it everything and be up for the challenge.

“My best as a player was the last 16. If we can get through this one and the next round then we would match that, so it will be sentimental to me to go one step further.

“We have got to massively concentrate on this one first and then put it on the back burner. It is a special occasion but the league is top of our priorities as well.”
