Debut goal not enough for Stafford Rangers

Jake Charles scored on his Stafford Rangers debut, but it was not enough to stop Boro from crashing to a 3-1 defeat at home to Farsley Celtic in the Northern Premier.

The 22-year-old former Wales Under-21 striker – grandson of Wales, Leeds and Juventus great John Charles – pulled one back after two goals in four second-half minutes had put Farsley in control.

Rangers piled on the pressure late on, but were caught on the break in stoppage time.

Meanwhile, Hednesford Town were beaten 2-1 by Nantwich Town on their travels.

Dan Sweeney scored his first goal for the Pitmen to cancel out the hosts’ opener, only for Nantwich to win it four minutes after half-time.
