Hundreds of football shirts from across the world – including those from clubs in the West Midlands – were on display at the funeral of non-league footballer Jordan Sinnott yesterday.

Sinnott, who most recently played for Matlock Town, died at the age of 25 after being attacked on a night out in Nottinghamshire in January.

Jordan’s father Lee was born in Aldridge and went to play 40 times for Saddlers in the 1980s and later Rushall Olympic.

Following his death, clubs began to send shirts to the Sinnott family bearing Jordan’s name and number, 25.

More than 800 were displayed at his funeral at Valley Parade yesterday – including an England short signed by manager Gareth Southgate – and will be auctioned off to raise money for Sport Relief.
