Unai Emery fears long term Aston Villa injury for Tyrone Mings
Unai Emery fears Tyrone Mings is facing months out after the defender suffered what appeared a serious knee injury in Saturday’s 5-1 defeat at Newcastle.

Mings left the field on a stretcher after going down in the first half and Emery admitted an initial scan “doesn’t look good”.
The England international will undergo a further scan tomorrow which will provide a clearer prognosis but the outlook is not promising.
It is the second serious blow Villa have suffered in the space of four days after Emi Buendia injured his cruciate ligament in training on Wednesday, ruling him out for six months.
Villa’s players wore T-shirts in support of Buendia prior to Saturday’s match.
Asked about Mings, Emery replied: “We don’t know exactly but it doesn’t look good. Tomorrow we will scan him and hopefully it isn’t too bad.
“But the first scan the doctor is telling us we have to wait for the second scan. But it doesn’t look good.
“The impact of the injuries this week is really tough, with Emiliano and today with Tyrone because we are losing two very important players for today and the next weeks and I don’t know, (maybe) the season.”
Mings’ injury overshadowed a sobering opening day defeat for Villa, who collapsed in the closing stages to suffer their heaviest defeat since Emery took charge.
Alexander Isak scored twice, while Sandro Tonali, Callum Wilson and Harvey Barnes were also on the scoresheet for the Magpies. A debut goal for Moussa Diaby provided Villa and Emery with some positives.
Emery said: “At the end 5-1 is a little bit worse than we deserved. They deserved to win but not like that.”
