Villa, as promised before the game, changed all 11 players during the course of Saturday's friendly at Adams Park, despite having half-a-dozen players on the treatment table.
And claret and blues manager Paul Lambert had another two of his personnel walking wounded by full-time, with strikers Andreas Weimann and Jordan Bowery going off injured during the game.
While the 2-2 score-line will be considered irrelevant, Weimann hurting his hip will after tumbling over Charles Dunne's outstretched leg outside the box, a crude challenge with just 27 minutes gone.
Lambert, back at the club where he started his managerial career in England in 2006, said: "If you look at the team that finished at the end, there were a lot of younger kids in the fray.
"That's down to the injuries we have got at the moment back at the training ground but, from that point of view, it's pleasing to see the younger kids coming on.
"We have still got a lot of work to do but they never let themselves down and it's about fitness levels, it's not about the score-line."
Austria international Weimann had threatened by pulling a shot wide just moments before the deadlock broken on 10 minutes in fortuitous fashion at the other end through Marvin McCoy.
In space on the right wing, McCoy looked up and floated a ball into the box that struck Ciaran Clark for a deflection that completely bamboozled goalkeeper Brad Guzan.
Realising it was sailing into his far corner, Guzan scrambled across to the ball but was flat-footed in his hesitation, the ball going over his head and into the net.
But Villa were back on terms in the 25th minute when summer signing Leandro Bacuna's free-kick dropped into a crowded box from the left.
It was met by the searing leap of Matthew Lowton – player number six of the summer to sign a new deal with the club on Friday - who headed the ball low past a motionless Matt Ingram.
But parity didn't last long in this game as Wycombe re-took the lead six minutes later with a second goal on 31.
Matthew Spring's corner from the left was nodded on by Jon-Paul Pittman into the path of Leon Johnson, who couldn't miss as he bundled home from point-blank range.
Villa were once again on level terms six minutes into the second-half, Ashley Westwood taking advantage of poor positioning from Ingram and his defensive wall.
Westwood thought fast to place his low free-kick from 20 years out on the right, squeezing inside the goalkeeper's near post.
As promised before the game, Villa's changed almost their entire team on the hour with the exception of Graham Burke.
Substitute goalkeeper Jed Steer ensured Villa left unbeaten by later parrying away a shot from Wycombe replacement Max Kretzschmar, with the ball on a plate after great work from Jo Kuffour.
Burke had himself replaced Weimann in the first-half and Villa finished with 10 men after Bowery left the field nursing his ribs. Jack Grelaish was the pick of the young players for Villa in the first hour.
