Robin Olsen

Called into the starting XI in the absence of Martinez and put in a decent display in goal for Villa, albeit he was not tested that much.

Steady 7

Matty Cash

What a way for Cash to celebrate his 100th Aston Villa appearance, he took both first-half goals really well.

Composed 8

Ezri Konsa

Playing on the right of the back three and sometimes at right-back, he was assured on the ball and attended his defensive duties well.

Good 7

Pau Torres

Looks like a Rolls Royce of a defender, although he would have been disappointed by how easily Lyle Foster turned him for the Burnley goal.

Comfortable 7

Lucas Digne

Lots of energy on the left and played a huge part in Villa’s third goal as he squared it for Diaby to finish.

Energetic 7

Diego Carlos

It was Carlos’ first Premier League start since last season and he looked like he had never been away. He is physical and he never gave the Burnley forwards a chance.

Commanding 7

Boubacar Kamara

In the first half Villa dominated in midfield, and Kamara was a large reason for that looking to play forward and taking the ball in tight spaces.

Calm 7

Douglas Luiz

Another Villa player who oozes quality on the ball and he was very good in Lancashire.

Quality 7

John McGinn

Played a great ball forward which contributed towards the first goal and did so well to hold off the defender to slot in Digne for Villa’s third.

Creative 8

Moussa Diaby

It was the perfect all-round display for the Frenchman, who swept home Villa’s third goal as well as creating the second for Cash.

Perfect day 9

Ollie Watkins

A quieter day for Watkins, who would have liked to have scored late on, but played a huge part in the opener with his pace.

Ok 7

Substitutes

Nicolo Zaniolo (for Diaby 73), Youri Tielemans (for Luiz 85), Jhon Duran (for Watkins 85), Bertrand Traore (for Digne 80). Subs not used: Filip Marschall, Oliwier Zych, Calum Chambers.
