The midfielder has started the last three games and turned in some mature performances which have drawn praise from manager Alex McLeish.

Bannan, who was involved in off-the-pitch controversy when he was found guilty of drink driving last November, also believes he has done a lot of growing up during this season and is determined to finish the campaign with a flourish.

"There's only so long you can get classed as a kid and I'd like to think I'm out of that bracket now. I'd like to think I'm more of an established player," said Bannan.

"Maybe I've not played as many games as an established player should have, but I wouldn't call myself a kid any more.

"I'd probably say I would like to be treated like an older player now.

"I've played international football for Scotland as well which has helped and obviously playing in the best league in the world, you're only going to get better."
