Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey departs for Greek side Olympiacos

The winger has finally secured a move away from Aston Villa after five years at the club.

Leon Bailey has completed a move away from Aston Villa, after joining Greek side Olympiacos on a permanent deal.

The winger, who joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen for £25million in 2021, had been linked with a move to Hull City earlier in the summer.

He scored 23 goals in 163 appearances in total for the Villans, but spent the first half of last season on loan at Roma, before being recalled in January.

Upon his return, Bailey played 19 times in all competitions, scoring one goal, as they won the Europa League and qualified for the Champions League.

A club statement from Villa read: “An exciting winger, capable of both scoring and assisting, Leon was a popular figure among his teammates and around the training ground with his exuberant personality, and he leaves Aston Villa with the very best wishes of everyone at the football club.”

The 29-year-old secured a move to Athens after the English transfer deadline passed - with the Greek window open until September 15.
