Aston Villa 4 West Ham 1 - player ratings
Matt Maher rates the Aston Villa players after their 4-1 win over West Ham.

Emi Martinez
Made his first serious save of the match with 10 minutes to go. Was assured in his handling as West Ham pressed at 2-1.
Solid 7
Matty Cash
Very good for the most part bar a tricky five minutes in the second half. Linked up well with Diaby. Always looking to be positive.
Busy 7
Ezri Konsa
Harshly penalised for handball in the first half. Another really good performance from the centre-back, who continues to grow.
Cool 8
Pau Torres
Settled into the match after a nervy start where it appeared Antonio’s physicality might be a problem. Seriously unlucky with the deflection.
Improving 7
Lucas Digne
Did a decent job of keeping Bowen quiet in the first half and was a threat in attack. Second half was trickier but he stuck to his task.
Involved 7
John McGinn
Lovely ball over the top to set Watkins away for the third goal. Sent a shot of his own wide in the first half. Always involved.
Precise 7
Douglas Luiz
Unlucky to be denied by Areola early on but would not be denied his trademark Villa Park goal. Becoming automatic from the spot too.
Double 8
Boubacar Kamara
Played his part in a fine team performance. Some sloppy passes in the second half but a big improvement on last time out v Wolves.
Commanding 7
Nicolo Zaniolo
The subject of all the attention before the game but the least effective of Villa’s attacking players. Some nice touches but indecisive at times.
Quiet 6
Moussa Diaby
Did not score but played a key role in Villa’s attack, particularly during the first. His pace provides a serious outlet and scares defenders.
Relentless 7
Ollie Watkins
Missed when it looked easier to score in the first half but did not let his head drop. Another assist and another goal.
Finish 7
substitutes
Leon Bailey (for Zaniolo, 75 mins) 7, Youri Tielemans (for Diaby, 85) Subs not used: Carlos, Traore, Chambers, Lenglet, Dendoncker, Kellyman, Olsen.
