Arsenal 2 Aston Villa 2: Player ratings

We rate the players after Villa fought back to draw 2-2 at Arsenal on Saturday evening.

Emi Martinez

Perhaps should have done better with the second Arsenal goal but then he goes and pulls off a superb save in stoppage time to deny Trossard.

Save 7

Matty Cash

Didn't stop the cross for Arsenal's second but then delivered a great one of his own for the leveller. You suspect the Arsenal defence didn’t expect him to cross with his left.

Cross 7

Ezri Konsa

A solid performance from the Villa centre-back. Held his nerve along with the rest of the defence as Arsenal poured forward in the closing stages.

Calm 7

Tyrone Mings

Hasn't had to deal with such a congested run of fixtures since his return from long-term injury but this was another solid performance.

Strong 7

Ian Maatsen

Seemed to switch off for Arsenal’s opener. Carried a threat in attack but needs to sharpen up in defence if he is to start regularly in the Premier League.

Lapse 6

Amadou Onana

Was doing a good job of shielding the Villa defence before being forced off by injury. Emery suddenly lacking a few options.

Injured 6

Boubacar Kamara

Didn’t hit the heights of his performance at Everton in midweek but he kept on battling and made a number of key interventions.

Dogged 7

Morgan Rogers

Some bright moments and became more of an influence the longer the game progressed. Well shackled for most of it.

Bustling 6

Youri Tielemans

Good in the first half and then outstanding in the second as he dragged Villa back into the game. Scored one, nearly had another.

Star 8

Jacob Ramsey

One driving run in the second half which set up Tielemans’ shot against the post but otherwise he struggled to get into the game.

Frustrated 5

Ollie Watkins

A similar story to Everton where he missed a good chance in the first half but took one in the second. Double figures again in the Premier League. So consistent.

Inevitable 7

Substitutes

Lamare Bogarde 7 (for Onana, 37), Lucas Digne 7 (for Maatsen, HT), Jhon Duran (for Watkins, 79), Leon Bailey (for Ramsey, 84) Subs not used: Nedeljkovic, Malen, Buendia, Gauci (gk), Olsen (gk).
