Aston Villa considering a fresh bid for ex-Walsall keeper Neil Etheridge

Villa are weighing up whether to make a second offer for Cardiff goalkeeper Neil Etheridge after seeing an £8million bid rejected, the Express & Star understands.

The 29-year-old has drawn interest from a host of clubs after an impressive season in the Premier League.

West Ham and Fulham have both been linked with a move for the Philippines international this summer.

But after Cardiff’s relegation, a move back to the West Midlands is likely to appeal to the shot-stopper who previously worked with Dean Smith and Villa goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler at Walsall.

Etheridge has previously hailed Cutler for “taking his game to another level.”

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has said he would be willing to sell Etheridge this summer if the right offer came in.

However, Bluebirds chairman Vincent Tan is believed to be keen on keeping the talented glovesman.
