Tuanzebe is back in full training at Bodymoor Heath following three months out with a foot injury.

The 21-year-old had been in superb form for the Villans before suffering the broken metatarsal shortly before Christmas.

However, after spending time back with United doing rehabilitation at their Carrington training facility, it now appears the Red Devils are happy with progress their highly-rated defender was making in claret and blue since first being signed on loan last season by Steve Bruce.

Reports in the North-West suggested United are keen to send the defender back to Villa on another season-long loan, whether or not Villa make it back to the Premier League.

There would still be a number of hurdles to overcome though, not least a major rebuild of the Villa squad, which looks increasingly necessary no matter which league they are playing in next season.

Villa also have fellow loanees Tyrone Mings and Kortney Hause impressing in central defence and either, or both, could be recruited in the summer dependant on Villa’s status.

Club captain James Chester is also under contract until 2020.
