Purslow impresses at VIlla Supporters' Trust AGM

On Wednesday evening, I had the pleasure of attending the Aston Villa Supporters' Trust AGM, held in the Holte Suite at Villa Park.

Our new chief executive Christian Purslow was in attendance and – despite a very tight schedule – he found time to talk at length to more than 160 fans on a number of subjects.

The main gist of the exchanges were to do with the plan from here and how they go about achieving their ultimate aim of promotion.

It certainly seamed to involve changing the age range of the first-team squad and making the under-23s more like the old reserve sides many of us grew up with.

He stated that every player in that side should be able to make the step up to the first team, otherwise what’s the point of it?

I have attended a few of these evenings now and have heard it all before about what they are all going to do.

However, Mr Purslow did say he wasn’t that keen on attending as all fans hear is sound bites and they are very easy to say.

He has told us fans to judge him and the owners on their actions.

That was refreshing change to what the previous regime had done and, after hearing him, I do trust them to get it right in time – we just have to show a bit of patience.

The rest of the evening was taken up with a superb Q&A with Villa legends Brian Little and Ian Taylor.

I’ve said this before, but I will say it again, if you are a Villa fan and you care as much as I do that our club is in good hands and want the chance to get your voice heard then joining the trust is a must, I’m on Twitter if anyone needs pointing in the right direction @JUSTIN180676
