Reports suggest the Wales international is set to leave Liverpool’s training camp in France in order to join Steve Bruce’s side for the upcoming campaign.

Talks have been held between the two clubs after a transfer embargo on the claret and blue outfit was lifted, a report said.

Woodburn has made 10 appearances and scored one goal for Liverpool in all competitions since joining from Chester in July 2016.

If the move would come off, he would join Villa who are preparing for their upcoming campaign in the Championship.

They have had a turbulent summer, after missing out on promotion to the Premier League last season and enduring financial difficulties, with the club’s ownership changing hands. Some of their star players, including Jack Grealish, have been linked with moves elsewhere over the summer.

However Bruce, who has remained in charge at Villa Park, has issued hands-off statement over the club’s key men such as Jack Grealish and James Chester.

Last week, the Express & Star reported Villa are set to sign Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Andre Moreira on loan, which would be the first foray into the transfer market for the owners, Nassef Sawaris and Wes Edens.
