According to the Daily Mail, the Robins are ready to cash in on the 6ft 5in tall centre-back, who has also interested Albion in the past although Tony Pulis is looking elsewhere this summer.

It’s believed the Championship club want upwards of £4million for the 27-year-old, but Steve Bruce may face competition from Fulham and Middlesbrough if he wants to land Flint’s signature.

Bruce is targeting a centre-back this summer in order to challenge Nathan Baker and James Chester at the heart of defence.

He’s keen to offload unfancied Micah Richards, who still has two years left on his contract, and remains unconvinced with Tommy Elphick, who was made club captain under Roberto Di Matteo.

Meanwhile, Villa are refusing to budge on their valuation of Carles Gil.

Real Betis are looking to land him for £1.75m but Villa want to recuperate the £3.2m they paid Valencia for the midfielder.
