Cesar Peixoto promises to stay 'honest' with Wolves' sidelined stars

The boss has inherited a large squad with several players facing uncertain futures.

Cesar Peixoto says honesty is the best policy when it comes to dealing with Wolves out-of-favour stars.

Hwang Hee-chan, Sasa Kalajdzic and Ki-Jana Hoever are among the players training away from the first-team and hoping to secure moves before next week’s transfer deadline.

Ladislav Krejci and Santiago Bueno, neither of whom were involved in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie at Sheffield Wednesday, could also depart.

Peixoto, who has inherited a large squad which includes several players whose futures lie elsewhere, says he will always be up front about where they stand.

"I'm a very honest guy with all the players,” he said. "I talk to their face what I think of the team, from these kind of players, and I have to respect the players all the time.

"I try to respect them in the training sessions, so I put minutes in the tank of all the players on pre-season and try to put all the players inside of the group, inside our ideas of the game, and respect the players and be honest with them.

"I've tried to work with the players who stay 100 per cent with us to build a team.

“It's important for us to try to build a strong team and the players who stay with us 100 per cent are the players I gave the priority to, to build a strong team.

"But these (other) players are contracted and worked with us and they have to train like the others.

"We don't know what could happen in the market and in this moment they're our players and we have to respect them.”

Kaladjzic has been linked with a possible return to LASK, the club he helped win the Austrian title while on loan last season.

The 29-year-old has suffered two serious knee injuries since joining Wolves from Stuttgart in 2022 and has not played for the club since last August.
