Cesar Peixoto issues unity call ahead of Wolves' Molineux return
Tuesday night’s visit of Portsmouth is the first of three straight home matches.
Cesar Peixoto says supporters sticking with his team through the bad times will be crucial to Wolves’ Championship hopes.
Wolves are back at Molineux on Tuesday night to host Portsmouth as they look to follow-up Friday’s win at Burnley.
It is the first of three straight home matches and the first since Peixoto and his players were booed off following last week’s 3-1 defeat to Bolton.
While the boss understands fans will be frustrated at poor results, he also believes maintaining perspective is required in a season where rough periods are inevitable.
“I think it is important that our supporters understand the Championship is tough and difficult,” said Peixoto. “Anybody can beat anybody.
“We are going to fight to win all of the games, but we are not going to win all of them. We have to stay together when things are not OK.
“We lost at home. I know it is difficult for the supporters, it is difficult for me and the supporters, but we work hard. We looked at the game and analysed and came away to win a difficult game.
“We have to stay ready. We have a lot of games and injuries, but we have to stay ready.”
Victory at Burnley altered the mood after Wolves had lost both of their first two matches back following the international break.
Another win on Tuesday, in what is their game in hand on the rest of the division, would see them climb above Albion and up to fifth.
Peixoto has promised he won’t be getting carried away, whatever the result.
He explained: “Before the game (on Friday), ‘everything is bad’. Now, maybe, ‘everything is good’.
“No, I have to stay calm, with the right focus, with the right commitment.
“It’s been a difficult two weeks for us. We played three games last week, and we have three games next week too.
“We have to manage the minutes of the players, we have less players because of the injuries.
“It (Friday) was three points, and nothing more, we have to stay with the right commitment for the next game.”
