The 34-year-old from Rowley Regis went toe-to-toe with highly-rated Londoner George Liddard at the Copper Box Arena in what was an early contender for fight of the year.

But a bruising encounter ended with 23-year-old Liddard claiming a unanimous victory after 12 rounds.

Each judge scored the fight 116-112 in Liddard's favour, with the majority of onlookers believing that was harsh on Denny.

Liddard made the better start to the bout, but former European champion Denny gradually fought his way back into a brutal and exciting contest.

The 11th round proved to be the round of the night as both men attempted to end the fight with Denny countering a bloodied Liddard's attacks as he sought a knockout blow.

But both men were left standing at the end of the round and Liddard negotiated the final round to maintain his unbeaten record.
