West Brom player ratings v Southampton: Three 8s as battling Baggies cruelly denied in another improved display

Dealt well with an early cross and kept out a Stewart header in the first half, which was Southampton's only chance of the game up until the final moments. Question marks over whether he could have done a bit better with the equaliser.

Danny Imray 

Caught early on and escaped a booking - and was beaten easily at times. Also gave away a poor foul in the second, but has improved and looked a lot better. Almost saw a deflected cross creep in the back post.

George Campbell

Big tackle in the box to deny Stewart early on and was a man mountain. Won everything and was calm in possession. Could be a slight question mark for the winner as the striker drifted off Campbell and onto full back Styles.

Alfie Gilchrist

Best game in an Albion shirt - as he moved into the centre of the backline. Good on the ball, won his battles and looked a lot more comfortable in the middle.

Callum Styles

In a bad season, he has arguably been Albion's best player. Set up Price for a chance, got an assist for the goal and produced a really big tackle early in the game.

Ousmane Diakite 

On the ball in the first half he was poor and got Albion into trouble. But overall he ran himself into the ground. Took a huge bang on the head and carried on, put key tackles in all over the park. Never stepped running.

Jayson Molumby

Great flick to set Price up before he took his goal well. Alongside Diakite he ran himself into the ground and worked so hard in the middle to snuff out Southampton's creative midfield players.

Jed Wallace

Back in the side and had good moments in the game without producing an end product. Beat his man a number of times but the cross just wasn't there. He did however find Dike for a late chance.

Isaac Price

One of Albion's best on the night, and has bounced back from the ugly Portsmouth scenes. Had three or four decent chances, two in the first half and two in the second half, but couldn't beat the keeper. Superb defensive work too.

Improved 7

Daryl Dike

One of his best games in a long time, as he made back to back starts. Caused chaos for the visitors, and had a hand in the goal with two headers kept out before Molumby poked home. Superb link up play and had a big chance late on that was kept out.

Aune Heggebo

Alongside Dike was a nuisance all evening. Had an early header, but it was his hold up play and his awareness that was brilliant. A class deft flick for a big Price chance later on in the game. Both have struck up a good partnership.
