'Next season in mind' - Everything you need to know about Wolves-bound Adam Armstrong
Wolves are on the verge of completing the signing of Southampton striker Adam Armstrong.
The Old Gold are set to bolster their attacking ranks on deadline day, as Jorgen Strand Larsen is poised to head for the exit door.
A £7million deal plus £2million in add-ons has been agreed, with Armstrong due to have his Wolves medical on Monday.
Here is everything you need to know about Wolves-bound Armstrong.
His career in brief
Joining his hometown club Newcastle aged nine, Armstrong made his debut for the Magpies as a late sub in a 1-0 defeat at Fulham at 17 in March 2014.
Armstrong played 19 times for Newcastle over the next 18 months before signing on loan for Coventry City.
He netted 20 times in 40 games for the Sky Blues in League One and was named in the PFA League One Team of the Year in 2015-16.
Less prolific loans at Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers followed until Armstrong eventually settled at Blackburn Rovers.

After shooting Blackburn to promotion into the Championship with nine goals in the second half of 2017-18, Armstrong finally left Newcastle to join Rovers permanently.
In total, Armstrong plundered 64 goals in 160 games in three-and-a-half seasons at Ewood Park - including 29 in 43 during his final campaign in 2020-21.
His goal scoring exploits earned him a step-up to the Premier League with Southampton where he flattered to deceive.
In two seasons in the English top-flight, Armstrong found the net only four times in 53 league outings.

He discovered his goal scoring touch in the Championship - notching 24 goals as he led them back to the Premier League via the play-offs in 2024.
However, Armstrong suffered a similar fate once again in the top-flight, and he was sent on loan to West Brom in January 2025, after scoring just twice in 20 Premier League games.
A return to the Championship failed to provide Armstrong with an upturn in fortunes, as he scored three goals in 17 appearances at the Hawthorns.
Since returning to St Mary's, Armstrong has been back among the goals this season, scoring 11 times for Southampton so far this season.
How will he fit in at Wolves?

This feels like the sort of signing which has been made with next season in mind.
Wolves will need a miracle to survive the drop and Armstrong has struggled to replicate his goal scoring heroics in the Championship whenever he has played in the Premier League.
But when, rather than if the inevitable occurs, Wolves will have a striker with a strong track record in the Championship for next season.
That being said, Armstrong can only be an upgrade in terms of numbers in front of goal on the soon to be departing Strand Larsen, who has had a second season to forget at Molineux.
Wolves set for Strand Larsen profit
Wolves have accepted a bid of £43million and £5million in add-ons from Crystal Palace for Strand Larsen.
The Norwegian striker has scored just once in the Premier League this term and a deal is expected to be struck before the window closes at 7pm.
That means Wolves are set to make a £25million profit after only triggering his £23million buyout clause following his initial season-long loan from Celta Vigo.
