Wolves' stance revealed on replacements for potential sales

Jhon Arias is also attracting interest as Wolves prepare for the final few days of the transfer window, with interest in signing midfielder Angel Gomes and striker Che Adams.

Edwards admitted he would expect replacements for any late sales before Monday's 7pm transfer deadline.

When asked if he needs to sign a goalkeeper in order to sanction Sa's departure, Edwards added: "We enjoy working with three in the first team, I think that's necessary, especially at this level. 

"But again, I'll reiterate, he's trained really well this week. He's been fully focused and obviously now I want to be able to concentrate, all systems go on a really important game for us (against Bournemouth)."

When asked about signing a striker in the event of Larsen's sale, Edwards added: "I think if anyone was to go and it was the right thing for us and for the football club, that's linked to the piece of the jigsaw sort of fitting together. The squad planning and everything else.

"So if we feel it's right and we feel that we can come out in a good position for the now and then for going forward, then obviously things like that can all work and come together quite nicely. 

"But again, there's a game that I really want to focus on and make sure that he is focused on that as well, which is the right thing for us."

Wolves are working on some potential signings before the window closes, with Edwards keen not to weaken the side for the last stretch of the season.

"I expect us maybe to do a little bit," he said.

"It's not going to be wholesale stuff now, that's clear, that's obvious with a few days to go, but I expect a little bit of something.

"We need to bring the right type of people and the right type of players in.

"I don't want to bring anyone in for the sake of it, so we are being selective with the people that we want to try and bring in. 

"But of course, we want to try and look at the balance of the group as well. I don't want to overload certain positions and then be under strength in other areas as well. So there's always planning around it. We'll see.

"I want to freshen things up if we can do a little bit as well. I think that's important."

In response to a question about not wanting to weaken the side, Edwards added: "We owe it to everybody, to ourselves, to everybody, because it's our job to fight and keep improving all the way to the end of the 38th game and to keep doing what we're doing right now.

"Over the last block of six, eight games or so, we've seen that steady improvement, so that's got to be our aim.

"My point is we don't have to sell anybody, so we only allow certain things to happen if we think it's the right thing for the football club, which would obviously mean then that we can make sure we have the right numbers in the right areas of the pitch. 

"If it gets to the point where we want to just shut up and that's us, then that's fine, we can."

Marshall Munetsi and Fer Lopez have already departed on loan, but Wolves are not seeking to directly replace them, and will look to add to the squad depending on any further outgoings.

"We've got a good mix, we've got good numbers at the moment," Edwards said.

"I quite like having quite a tight-knit group, which it feels like that at the moment. If the quality levels are high, I think we're in a good spot. 

"We've made those decisions because we feel it's the right thing for those players, but for the club as well."
