The 17-year-old suffered the injury during a training session following the team's arrival in Zimbabwe.

Mohammed made his debut for England under-19s against India in June 2025 - hitting four sixes to post a score of 42.

Later, he scored a century against Bangladesh under-19s and was selected for the England under-19 tour of the Caribbean at the end of 2025.

He has been replaced in the 15-player squad by Yorkshire all-rounder Will Bennison, who made his debut against Ireland in September.

England open their ICC Under-19's World Cup campaign against Pakistan in Harare on Friday, January 16.

Teenager Mohammed, who is the nephew of Moeen Ali and current Worcestershire assistant, Kadeer Ali, signed for Worcestershire last summer, after previously starring for Smethwick in the Birmingham League.

He made his professional debut for Worcestershire in the T20 Blast against Durham in June 2025.

His bow in the One-Day Cup arrived in Nottinghamshire two months later and he marked only his second appearance with a half century in a 60-run win against Essex.
