Ex-Walsall loan goalkeeper in Championship triumph 24 hours after recall
Former Walsall loan goalkeeper Tommy Simkin kept a clean sheet for Stoke City during their 1-0 win over Hull City in the Championship.
The 21-year-old was recalled from his latest loan with Leyton Orient just 24 hours before due to an injury to Viktor Johansson.
Johansson landed awkwardly on his shoulder during a match against Sheffield United on Monday and the Swedish goalkeeper is expected to require surgery.
As a result, Simkin started between the sticks upon his Potters return and helped guide his side to a stellar victory over promotion contenders Hull at the MKM Stadium.
England under-21 international Simkin made 14 appearances for Leyton Orient in all competitions - registering three shutouts in total.
Last season, the Walsall-born shot-stopper played 47 times for his hometown club, as he helped lead them to the League Two play-off final.
Simkin finished the campaign with 14 clean sheets in the league and 16 across all competitions.
