"We've got to do our bit for them" - Rob Edwards makes Wolves demand to reward fans

Rob Edwards has urged his Wolves players to reward the club's 'brilliant' fans in their search for a first win of the season.

Two points from 12 games, and a defeat in Edwards' first match in charge, sees Wolves rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.

Supporters at Molineux gave Edwards a warm welcome and backed the players in their 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace, and Edwards says it is now time for the team to step up.

He said: "I thought the fans were brilliant, I've got to say thank you for the energy that they brought and the welcome that they showed at the very beginning.

"Of course they play a huge part, but we've got to do our bit.

"It's pointless me talking now and saying how important the fans are. They are. I'll say that and it's almost like I draw a line under it.

"We've got to do our bit for them.

"They'll be frustrated and rightly so because they haven't seen a team win for so long.

"We've got to work really, really hard to try and get them with us because they showed that, that was incredible what they did and they backed us even when we were 1-0 down as well, they tried to get behind the lads.

"We've got to do our bit."

Edwards gave all four stands at Molineux a lap of appreciation at full-time, despite many fans leaving and most of his players only going towards the South Bank.

"They're obviously standing there and trying to show their appreciation to one stand," the head coach added.

"I think we've got to try and get around the whole stadium. I'll always do that, win, lose or draw.

"The supporters will be really, really down and hurting at the moment, but we've got to try and show our appreciation because they are really important and they spend a lot of money and they follow us everywhere.

"It's a difficult moment for the club, so I don't want us just walking straight down the tunnel."
