The England international produced a replica of the set-piece Buendia scored against Bournemouth earlier this month to complete Villa’s fightback at Elland Road.

Rogers had earlier brought his team level, cancelling out Lukas Nmecha’s opener for the hosts, when he flicked home Donyell Malen’s cross.

And he again stepped up to the plate with 15 minutes remaining, sending his free-kick up and over the wall and into the net from just outside the box.

Rogers told the BBC: “I call it the Emi Buendia. He did it in the last game before the break. It's something I've been practising, probably not as hard as him or as much as I should.
