West Midlands clear at the top of the championship - darts round-up
West Midlands are seven points clear at the top of the UKDA Championship after a convincing 22-14 victory over Merseyside, writes Paul Walters.
The men’s A team recorded a 8-4 victory inspired by Jack Aldridge, Neil Pointon, Dan Hands, Shaun Carroll, Rich Platt, Will Beaden, Jon Platt and Adam Teasdale, while the women’s A team were held to a 3-3 draw with victories for Jackie Maiden, Gemma Barrett and Kat McLean.
The men's B team top their table after a crushing 9-3 win - Justin Evans, Sean Craig, Jordan Craig, Dean Fullwood, Luke Griffiths, Rob Thompson, Martin Price, Dan Nicholls and Kieron O’Mahoney doing the damage.
The women’s B team fell to a 4-2 defeat, despite individual victories for Shelbie Guest and Hannah Davies.
Elsewhere, Junction B have clinched back-to-back titles in the Tettenhall Wednesday League after beating Charlies Bar 6-1 with wins from Luke Griffiths, Paul Bromley, Len Slade, Adam Slade, Phil Mayo and Callum Parkes.
The race for second goes into final week after Junction A defeated Red Lion A 6-1 thanks to Jack Duck, Paul Farley, Jamie Daly, Tom Slade, Mikey Harris and Dan Fellows.
Dog B also won 6-1, against Claregate - Mark Frumenzi, Craig Locker, Connor Lucas, Jaydee Matthews, Mike Matthews and Dave Lucas doing the damage.
Wednesfield Legion came from 3-1 down to defeat Junction C 4-3 in the Wolverhampton Tuesday League - Steve Potts, Steve Jones, Steve Hillman and Ben Wright winning.
Golden Lion B shocked Woodfield, winning 4-3 courtesy of Kelan Brown, Marc Williams, Lance Hartill and Brandon Hartill, while Dog A beat Bradmore Arms 4-3 thanks to Dan Bridgwood, Dave Trainer, Ade Worley and Jaydee Matthews.
The only match in West Midlands Super League saw second-placed Kings Head clinch a 3-2 victory over Hotshots - Matty Dennant, Rich Platt and Owen Maiden the Kings winners, and Ethan Shaw and Lee Shaw replying for Hotshots.
Lower Gornal BL B are one point clear at top of the Coseley Friday League after crushing Wednesfield Cons A 5-1 - Spike Green, Ash Marson, Phil Parker, Adam Edgar and Geoff Marson winning.
Parkes Hall had a great 5-1 victory at Hotshots B thanks to Joe Turner, Steve Davis, Harry Williams, Mark Rollinson and Jamie Rollinson, while Allen's Bar's 5-1 win at Lanesfield came courtesy of Wayne Hobday, Adam Evans, Lee Jordan, Sam Bissell and Nick Whitehouse.
