We rate the players after Aston Villa made it five wins on the spin with a 2-1 victory at Tottenham.

Published

EMI MARTINEZ

Saved from Odobert in the first half and then from Palhinha in the second. Looks more uncertain on crosses than at any other point of his Villa career.

Saves: 6

MATTY CASH

Had a hand in the winner when he hammered the ball back forward. Defended really well against the lively Odobert.

Pass: 8

EZRI KONSA

Carried on where he left off for England. Always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Few defenders playing at such a high level.

Strong: 8

PAU TORRES

The Spaniard’s return to form has been a key part of Villa’s resurgence. Always calm on the ball. Looks to have his confidence fully restored.

Dependable: 7

LUCAS DIGNE

Showed sublime skill to bring the ball under control and then find Buendia. Switched off defensively a couple of times but kept battling.

Skill: 7

AMADOU ONANA

A curious game. Caused problems going forward but was also guilty of giving the ball away too easily and for such a big man, he loses quite a few battles.

Mixed: 6

BOUBACAR KAMARA

It becomes easy to take Kamara’s performances for granted, such are their consistency. Helped Villa wrestle back control after a tough start.

Control: 7

JOHN MCGINN

Started in another new position on the left side of a three behind Malen. A typically battling performance from the skipper who set the tone for the team.

Relentless: 7

EVANN GUESSAND

No shortage of effort but two months into his Villa career we are still waiting for a moment of real quality. His most eye-catching work was in defence.

Quiet: 5

MORGAN ROGERS

You would almost say his first Villa goal of the season was worth the wait. A sublime strike and you could visibly see him grow in confidence afterward.

Strike: 7

DONYELL MALEN

After his brace against Burnley and a goal on international duty, came evidence of why he is not an outright No.9. Had one big chance and almost took it.

Shackled: 5
