'That's why I signed here' - Aaron Pressley sets his sights on the long-term with Walsall

The 23-year-old joined for an undisclosed fee from League One side Stevenage in the summer and penned a three-year deal at Bescot. 

Pressley has already turned out for the likes of Brentford, Wimbledon, Accrington Stanley, Stevenage and Barrow during his early career.

He has never played more than 30 games in a season at senior level, but wants to find continuity, as he sets his sights on a lengthy spell with the Saddlers.

Pressley: "I want to feel part of something"

"The manager said that to me when I signed. I want to feel settled, I want to feel part of something," Pressley said.

"That's why I signed here. To be here for three years would be great and to see this club go on a journey would be even better."

The towering Scottish frontman netted three times for the Saddlers during pre-season, but has scored just once in League Two so far. 

His influence stretches far beyond just his numbers, but Pressley is still eager to increase his contribution in the final third.

Pressley setting his sights on "more goals" at Walsall

"I've enjoyed it so far and there's hopefully more to come from me in terms of hopefully adding a few more goals," he added.

"So far, at my previous clubs, I've proven that I can be a nuisance, but it's just about taking my goal scoring tally that extra step. 

"That will hopefully come from experience, time on the pitch and working out there [as he points towards the training pitch]." 

Pressley has started every league game for Walsall so far, starting the campaign alongside Jonny Stuttle, who was on loan from Bournemouth. 

An ACL injury meant that Stuttle had to be recalled prematurely by the Premier League outfit, but his latest partner Daniel Kanu has hit the ground running. 

Kanu scored the match-winner against Chesterfield on September 6 and doubled his tally with a crucial equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Fleetwood Town on Saturday. 

Striking options are "very strong" at Walsall

There have been questions marks over the possible lack of depth in attack, with Albert Adomah and Jamille Matt serving as the only orthodox alternatives from the bench.

Sadler has earmarked Rico Richards as an option to play as a 'second striker' and Pressley believes the attacking combinations are strong.

"There's been a few striking combination this year and I think they're all very strong," he noted. 

"Even in the EFL Trophy game, you can see the rotation that we can bring and even Albert [Adomah] playing up front. He has got unbelievable energy. 

"Dan has done very well since he has come in. He has settled, applied himself and put in some really good performances."
