EMI MARTINEZ

Nothing builds bridges like good performances. The save from Grealish was very good after the shot took a deflection. The save from Keane was bordering on world class.

Class: 8

MATTY CASH

Picked up the most predictable booking in the Premier League when he fouled Grealish. But by and large, he did pretty well against his former skipper.

Dogged: 7

EZRI KONSA

Made a mistake at the end which helped send Barry clear but that was the one blot on an otherwise strong performance. Usually in the right place.

Solid: 7

TYRONE MINGS

Found Beto a bit of a handful in the early stages. Made a crucial block to deflect Barry's late effort wide as Villa held on.

Block: 7

LUCAS DIGNE

Found Ndiaye a very tough customer and the winger had too much space in the first half. In the wars in the second period.

Tough: 6

LAMARE BOGARDE

Took time to get up to the speed of the game and there were a couple of nervy moments in the first half. Improved as the afternoon wore on.

Steady: 6

YOURI TIELEMANS

Struggled to do much in the first half and was then forced off after experiencing pain in his calf. A concern for Villa.

Injury: 5

JOHN MCGINN

Once more stationed on the right flank but most of his first half work was defensive. Improved in the second half after switching to the middle.

Improved: 6

EMI BUENDIA

Came closer to anyone than scoring when his shot was deflected just wide of the post. Involved in some of Villa's best moments.

Lively: 6

MORGAN ROGERS

After barely missing a beat for England in midweek, he barely hit one for Villa on Saturday. Even the simple passes seem tough for him in a Villa shirt right now.

Poor: 5

OLLIE WATKINS

So anonymous it would be no surprise to see his face on a Missing poster. Difficult to remember a period of his Villa career with such little service.

Lost: 5
