Barnet 1-2 Walsall - player ratings: Mixed scores from a hard-fought Saddlers win

OK - Produced an excellent save to palm away Nnamdi Ofoborh's effort from the edge of the box but perhaps should've done better to punch away Anthony Hartigan's corner for Ollie Hawkins' goal.

Harrison Burke - 6

Challenging - Made his league debut and had his work cut out dealing with the physical threat when Barnet resorted to a long ball style late on. He was withdrawn for the closing stages.

Aden Flint - 7

Commanding - Won most of his aerial battles and commanded a young defence either side of him, although his looping header did lead to a goalmouth scramble towards the end.

Dan Cox - 6

Grew - Caught out a couple of times by Kane Smith in the first half but grew into the game as Barnet applied late pressure.

Brandon Comley - 7

Steady - Made a couple of important recovery challenges, especially to block Smith's close-range finish after he snuck in behind Cox in the first half.

Connor Barrett - 8

Opener - Took just 80 seconds to open the scoring when he swept his finish past Cieran Slicker for his second of the season. His run also led to Nnamdi Ofoborh hauling him down for his second yellow.

Jamie Jellis - 6

Mixed - Prevented Barnet from building out from the back with a tireless shift off the ball but was loose in possession at times. Came closest in the second half with an effort from distance.

Charlie Lakin - 7

Faded - Set-up the first goal with a clever overlapping run and cutback for Connor Barrett to score. Picked up some good positions in the first half but was less effective after the break.

Mason Hancock - 7

Solid - Collected an assist for Walsall's second with a sumptuous free-kick delivery for Aaron Pressley to convert from close-range and dealt with his defensive duties well.

Jonny Stuttle - 6

Bright - Flew out of the traps and played a key role in the opening goal, pressing Danny Collinge into an early mistake and releasing Charlie Lakin. Faded after the break and was replaced on the hour.

Aaron Pressley - 8

Strong - Opened his goal scoring account for Walsall with a stabbed finish for their second goal but was beaten in the air by Hawkins for Barnet's goal. 

Substitutes 

Albert Adomah (for Stuttle, 62) - 6 

Applauded by both sets of fans as he came on against his former club. Not majorly involved but carried the ball nicely with a couple of mazy runs.

Courtney Clarke (for Lakin, 73) - 6 

His cameo from the bench against Swindon saw him add attacking vigour. It was a very different assignment for him at Barnet.

Priestley Farquharson (for Burke, 73) - 6 

Provided an aerial presence for the closing stages when he replaced Burke.

Lewis Warrington (for Comley, 78)
