"I'm very proud" - Defender reflects on making his Wolves debut

David Moller Wolfe says the players are not concerned about pre-season defeats as the defender reflects on the 'proud' moment of his Wolves debut.

The 23-year-old came straight in to start against Celta Vigo at Molineux on Saturday, following his £10million move from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, and looks set to keep his place against Manchester City on the opening day this weekend.

Wolves have lost four and drawn two of their pre-season matches, but Wolfe remained calm when quizzed on that record and was instead beaming at making his debut.

"I'm very proud," the Norwegian defender said.

"It felt incredibly good to put on the shirt for the first time and go out and meet the fans and everything.

"Sadly, we didn't get the result we wanted, but we had some good moments there for sure and we'll be ready for next week.

"The main thing for us is to get in shape, get in form for when the Premier League starts and I feel like we're going to be ready on Saturday."

Wolfe did receive treatment in the first half for a head injury and seemed to be in some discomfort, before playing on and then being taken off at half-time.

That raised concerns about whether the defender had suffered a concussion, which would have likely ruled him out of playing against City.

But Wolfe insists he is not injured, is ready to play and the plan was always to take him off at the break.

"I'm all good, just a blow but there was no problem," he added.

"I hadn't played a game for three-and-a-half weeks and then only played 30 minutes, so it would be a bit risky if I played more than one half, so that was the plan."

Meanwhile, Fer Lopez was expressed his gratitude to the Wolves fans for their welcome as he made his Molineux debut.

The summer signing has been a regular feature in pre-season following his £19.5million move from Celta Vigo and he has now finally made his Molineux bow against his former club.

"I'm feeling very excited to start the season, playing in this wonderful stadium," Lopez said.

"I'm very grateful to the fans that came here because it's a pre-season friendly and the stadium was nearly full.

"For me, it was a very warm welcome and I'm very happy to play my first game here. Let's hope there's a lot more.

"It was amazing, we really felt the support. They will help us a lot during the season."

Lopez visited the Celta hotel the day before the game and then dropped off Wolves shirts to the away changing room after the fixture, as he visited old friends.

"It was the club I played for my whole life so it was very strange, but I enjoyed the game a lot," Lopez added.

"I'm very happy to play against them in my first game here (at Molineux), but now my only focus is Man City.

"We do (feel prepared), the coach has worked on what he wants us to do.

"I am very grateful to him for the opportunities he has given me."
