Aden Flint on what motivates him at 36 and his quest for promotion with Walsall

Flint, who has played over 600 professional games, enjoyed a dominant debut during the Saddlers' 2-1 win against Swindon Town at Bescot on Saturday. 

The towering defender was handed the armband for the occasion and relished the sweet taste of victory against his former club.

"I've really not [lost any enjoyment for the game]. When you get abuse for 90 minutes from Swindon, which is part and parcel of football, and I can handle it. 

"But if they're going to give it to me then I'm damn sure going to give it back to them if we win as well." 

Flint did not mince his words when asked about his intentions in Walsall colours either. 

Walsall narrowly missed out on promotion last season and Flint arrives with five on his CV to date. 

He now wants to add a sixth to that list with Walsall come the end of the season.

"Just success, I just want to keep going as long as I can. I turned professional when I was about 18 or 19 so I probably started a little bit later than what people are starting these days," he continued.

"I just want to keep playing as long as I can, win as much as I can and achieve as much as I can. I think there's a great opportunity at Walsall to do that as well.

"It was a great day against Swindon but it was one game out of 46. It's a long old season and it's not a sprint. 

"The aim is for me is promotion. If I didn't see the chance of promotion then I wouldn't be here because I'm getting older. 

"I've got five promotions and I want to add another one to that."
