'Good move' Walsall boss Mat Sadler opens up on Levi Amantchi's loan switch to Rochdale

The 24-year-old, who arrived from League Two rivals Bromley in January, joined Dale on a six-month loan deal on Friday. 

Walsall have bolstered their front-line with the additions of Bournemouth loanee Jonny Stuttle and Aaron Pressley from Stevenage. 

They also still boast Jamille Matt and Josh Gordon, while Albert Adomah has also led the line on a number of occasions. 

With that in mind, Sadler admitted that it would've been difficult to guarantee Amantchi game time and revealed the club will re-evaluate his situation in January.

"With Levi, I'm really pleased with that because I think it's a good move for him," Sadler said.

"I was watching on thinking he's a good young player we've got there and what I didn't think I could guarantee him was the minutes that he probably needs at this stage of his development. 

"So what I didn't want was for him to spend the next six months making 10 appearances from the bench or whatever that looks like. 

"I wanted him to get that regular game time so that was the thought process behind it and then we'll re-evaluate that in January. 

"It's a good sign of the progression of the club that we're able to have these assets that we can hopefully improve and do well with.

"Of course, not every single one of them is going to be a straight line and it's the same with Levi. Go and get some minutes, hopefully score some goals and feel like a real week in, week out player."

Amantchi scored four goals in 21 appearances for Walsall during the second half of last season.
